THE BRIEF:
This garden began life as a picture, of an ornamental pond with a statue of a girl sitting by it, cut out from a magazine by the client who wanted us to design a garden based around the theme of the picture.
This we did by imagining a bigger scene with lots of pots and lush planting, with warm tones for the paving and weathered red bricks. Bamboo screens and moorish pots to frame the scene. Originally the pond was to have been more like a well but the client wished to have somewhere to sit by the water and so we created a two tier shape. The pond itself was made with a Butyl rubber lining and planted with marginals to give an instant effect. also a hidden biofiltration system was installed to keep the water clear
Lots of cloimbers were planted in specially made beds to increase the feeling of exoticism. Wisteria, Solanum, Honeysuckle etc. The pots and beds were planted with a deliberately eclectic mix of Shrubs, Perennials and Annuals
